About 125 people attended the Alpert Jewish Family & Children’s Service Chai Society season kick-off reception Dec. 13 at the oceanfront estate of Sydell Miller.
The Chai Society, which boasts about 150 families – 25 of whom are new and just announced at this event – is composed of those patrons who each year give $5,000 or more to AJFCS. The West Palm Beach agency offers counseling, Holocaust survivor support, domestic abuse assistance, mentoring and many other social programs that help individuals through challenging times in their lives.
“This is our opportunity to thank our dedicated supporters who are the backbone of our organization,” said Chai Society founding chairwoman Zelda Mason. “Each year, these special members provide approximately $2 million in crucial support of AJFCS. We couldn’t do it without them.”
Chai Society co-chairwomen are Linda Golden, Judith Rosenberg and Sheila Wilensky.
Keith Braun, a Palm Beach Gardens attorney who is the AJFCS board president, spoke during the event, as well as vice president Vivian Lieberman, who announced that 18 donors have committed to making legacy gifts to the agency through its recently created legacy program.
