Continuing a longstanding family tradition, Shapiro Pertnoy Companies conducted their latest community support endeavor on January 18th, 2010.It was eleven years ago when Shapiro Pertnoy Companies built a residential facility for Alpert Jewish Family & Children Services on Haverhill Road in suburban
West Palm Beach – known today as the Friedman-Goldfeld Residence for adults with disabilities. The original construction was spearheaded by partners Steven Shapiro and Ronnie Pertnoy. Now more than a decade later, their sons, Josh Pertnoy and Kevin Shapiro, proudly led the renovation of this great facility.
On Monday the 18th, from 8:30am to 3pm, Shapiro Pertnoy Companies coordinated a group of nearly fifty volunteers comprised of friends, family members, contractors and tenants. The volunteer group was joined by outstanding area high school students as members of the Teen Tzedakah Project with the Friedman Commission for Jewish Education who together made much needed renovations to the property.
Over a 6.5 hour time span, the group home was modified with a secure fence around its perimeter, a newly rocked driveway and a garage-to-room renovation that created a new indoor recreational area for residents. In addition, the volunteers painted walls, patched drywall and updated the entire property with new landscaping.
“We’ve had an outpouring of support from our friends, clients and contractors offering their time and talents to this extraordinary community project,” states Kevin Shapiro. The entire Shapiro Pertnoy team, including Ronnie Pertnoy, Steven Shapiro, Josh Pertnoy and their staff, were on site and hands-on to beautify, secure and upgrade the Alpert JFCS’ group residence.
“The day was an opportunity for others to get involved and even get a little dirty as we improve the lives of those who live here,” adds Shapiro. The highly regarded construction firm received additional support for this project by way of needed materials and monetary donations.
The Friedman-Goldfeld Residence for adults with disabilities is part of the Melvin J. and Claire Levine Jewish Residential & Family Service, affiliated with the Alpert Jewish Family & Children’s Service.
