Play Therapy

Young children, often not able to verbalize their feelings, may need specialized “non-verbal” types of treatment to achieve the best results. The play therapists at AJFCS are trained to utilize therapy techniques that involve clay, paints, puppets, dolls, etc…with which the child can express her feelings, and explore new, more successful ways to cope.

The ongoing interchange between the child psychiatrist and the child therapists adds to the strength of the Children’s services. There is truly the capacity for seamless, coordinated treatment for the child, which contributes to positive outcomes and improved mental health for the child and the entire family.
